Have your say: the follow-up Those of you who came to the church open meeting at the Cock & Rabbit on 31st January will be interested to know what has happened since. Church services were one of the topics discussed, with a call for choice – one suggestion was an outdoor service on The Green. This has now happened, on the 18th June after the Church Fête. The Sunday School are planning to organise some of the family services, and for those wanting something different from the services we offer there was a Churches Together Pentecost Praise Service at Great Missenden Buryfield Memorial Hall on 4th June. The big event staged outside the Church was the Eric Petrossian dramatisation of the Gospel story on for Friday 21st April – well-attended and generally judged to be successful. We would like to hold more such events – if anyone has a specific suggestion, please let us know. Our work with children is progressing: not only is the Sunday School continuing to grow, but Arabella Norton is starting a new group for the older children. We have also seen growth in the choir and have continued the programme of social events on the third Thursday of each month. There was much discussion on visiting at the meeting – currently the Vicar is backed up in this by Revd Ivor Cornish, who makes this a major part of his ministry. Prayer was also emphasised, and opportunities for collective prayer have continued (such as the prayer meeting at the Methodist Church on the first Thursday of each month). The Vicar spoke particularly about prayer at the Annual Meeting in March. The PCC is meeting on 5th July to review progress and agree what more needs to be done; if you have any thoughts on this, do pass them on to any PCC member. Finally – all at the meeting agreed that it was vital for more people to get involved in the work of the Church, and many of those there said they were willing to do so. That remains true! If anyone would like to help in any way, please let us know. |
