Lee Common School By Annie Smith
On June 9th the cricket ground was bathed in warm sunshine as the children
from Lee Common School made their way across the fields to meet waiting
parents, carers and friends for this year’s annual sports day.All the children were able to take part, with the younger part-time nursery class just completing one straightforward running race. At the top end of the school Year Twos entertained us with a variety of events, ending in the ever-popular ‘dressing up’ race, involving sporting oversized hats, bags and gum boots and trudging rather than running towards the finishing line, grinning from ear to ear! The red team won the most points, retaining the Challenge Cup from last year. Pictured here is the winner of the Victor Ludorum shield who scored the highest number of points and won three of his races. The Revd David Burgess kindly presented the awards in Mrs Richardson’s absence. On June 13th the children were participating in an Indian dance workshop as part of their multi-cultural experiences, led by a specialised teacher in traditional costume. |
