methodist Time to give your local chapel a go!
By the Reverend Preben Andersen

Exciting news from your local chapel: from August 2006 and for an initial period of three months, Lee Common Methodist Church will start 11:00 am family services on the following Sundays: August 6th and 20th; September 3rd and 17th and October 1st, 15th and 29th.

These services will be taken by ministers and preachers particularly trained for and/or enthused about FAMILY services (meaning something for everybody!), and many of us will be focusing on ‘Godly Play’, which is a new and exciting way of bringing the Gospel home in a practical, ‘hands-on’ kind of way.

Your chapel needs YOU! And I wonder how many of you really know just how much we have to offer?

Following a thorough refurbishment the premises and the beautiful gardens already offer an ideal venue for away-days and day conferences, and indeed regular bookings are taken by Marian Tomkins on 837479 at any time. Fees are negotiable, PowerPoint, OHP and screen are available, and self-service teas and coffees too on request. Why not ask Marion for a quote for that special day out?

Our membership at the moment is small, so we really would welcome more families to our Sunday morning services. We have the ideal premises and we know from our Toddler Group and coffee mornings how so many of you find us a friendly bunch and the premises attractive, welcoming and adaptable. Chairs instead of pews make it so much easier to adapt the place to YOUR requirements. Indeed, for the ‘Godly Play’ which will form part of our morning services we may just get rid of the chairs altogether for a while and sit in a circle on the floor! And why not? A helping hand will be given to those who – like me – find it easy enough to get down, but a little harder to get up again!

Do come and visit us at any time! If you want to speak to me, I am always happy to hear from you. My home telephone number is 871668, the office number is 874386 and my email address is pwandersen@aol.com.

WHERE ARE WE? Well, I guess most of you know, if you are honest, as you probably pass by often enough. We are in Oxford Street just a couple of doors down from the school, and we do not want you to pass by any more but to STOP and give us a go!

God bless you!
