Lee Cricket Club on a roll By Andy Devoy The second half of the season has seen an upturn in the fortunes for the senior sides. The Saturday 1st team won five games in a row to put themselves in with a chance of winning the league, but unfortunately they lost narrowly in the top of the table clash with Haddenham. Two significant individual performances within this run of victories was a lifetime best 144 for Warren Davies and Mick Lapham taking 5 for 22 in the same game. The Sunday team also enjoyed a good run, losing only one of their five games over the same period – the highlight being Jon Swain’s 123 against Monks Risborough, played on one of the hottest days of the year.
The
Colt’s Section at the club continues to grow, with a full house every Friday
evening. The takings behind the bar seem to indicate that parents are enjoying
it too. The Colts teams have been performing brilliantly this season against
much more experienced clubs. The Under-11s won six of their eight league
matches as well as a few friendlies. The Under-12s managed to lose games to
either a lack of opposition or the wet weather in the middle of the heat wave!
The Under-10s won three of their five matches. A big well done to all. Finally a big Thank You to all the people who give up their time to help make the club a success. There are too many to mention but you know who you are. Well done and keep up the hard work. |
