Recent and future events at Lee Common School
By Annie Smith

school The new academic year began on 6th September and there are a number of changes to report at school this term. We welcome seven new children into the ‘Wrens’ nursery/reception class and one new pupil in to the ‘Robins’ year 1 class.

Mrs Jane Reynolds has joined us as School Secretary. She takes over from Bridget Harrison, although Bridget will continue to be finance officer on a part time basis.

We have also learnt of Mrs Richardson’s impending retirement at the end of the Autumn term, so the governors will now begin the process of recruiting a new Head Teacher.

The LCSA (Lee Common School Association) held their AGM in September. New committee members are now hard at work making plans for the annual Christmas fair, which takes place this year on 2nd December at the school. This is the LCSA’s biggest fund raiser and this, along with other events and fund raising initiatives by parents, is so important in raising money for extras for the school, such as books, IT resources, school trips etc.

The LCSA has a new website, which you may visit at www.leecommonpta.org.

It is hoped that the website, as well as being informative, will also contribute to raising valuable extra funds. The site has a ‘web shop’ and by purchasing your goods online via our website, leading retailers will pay commission to the school. John Lewis, Amazon, Marks & Spencer and Early Learning Centre are just a few of the retailers involved in this scheme. Please do have a look at the site and if you can remember to shop via our website when ordering goods online, it would be very much appreciated!

Further dates for your diary: 2nd October is the School Harvest Festival at the Church; 12th December 1:30 pm is the Christmas Play.

We would welcome donations of empty shoe boxes for the harvest gifts, if you have any to spare.
