Lee Common School By Annie Smith
It was great to see so many parents and friends at the Church for the recent Harvest Festival celebrations. All donated produce was distributed amongst senior citizens in the parish. Huge thanks to Ann Kenyon for organising this once again and thanks also to you, for all of the lovely Thank You cards which the children have received. Plans for this year’s Christmas fair on 2nd December are advancing nicely. We look forward to seeing you all at the school for what is the LCSA’s biggest fundraiser event. At the time of writing the children were looking forward to a History Day at school on 19th October, entitled ‘Potions and Pills’. This was to give them a chance to learn about how illness and injury were treated in the time of Florence Nightingale. This was being funded by the LCSA. Also being paid from LCSA funds, on 30th October the ‘Living Eggs’ project was due to come to the school, lasting for two weeks. Pupils have an opportunity to observe the lifecycle of chicks at first hand – and they will, no doubt, be tremendously excited at the opportunity to hold chicks. Last month we reported the sad news of Mrs Richardson’s retirement at the end of the Autumn term. The school is organising a farewell celebration to mark her retirement on Friday 15th December from 2:00 – 3:15 pm. This is an opportunity for everyone to say their goodbyes and we are inviting anyone who knows Margaret to attend. If you would like to come, we would ask that you kindly RSVP to Mrs Jane Reynolds, at the school office on 837267. Jane is also happy to take any donations towards a leaving gift. Please do remember to take a look at the LCSA’s new website, which you may visit at www.leecommonpta.org. Details of the 2006 Christmas card, containing artwork from all of the children in the school, will soon be posted on to the site, so if you would like to support us by purchasing some cards (£2.50 for a pack of five), please take a look. A huge Thank You goes to Philip Stanley, who has done a fantastic job in setting the website up for us. We could never have done this without his expertise. |
