Sunday school has special gift for Sri Lanka By Tim Hart The Lee Pre-school in the village of Weerawila, Hambantota, is nearing completion – whilst it is nearly two years since the Tsunami, nothing happens fast in Sri Lanka!
Since February, Ann Ash
and the Sunday School children have been busy making a wall-hanging for
our village to give to the pre-school. Ann was the ideal person for this
commission as she had recently been on a textile course in Thailand. The
wall-hanging is made up of scenes designed and made by the children, bordered
by the faces which the children made of themselves with their names. The
photograph shows some of the children with the wall- hanging. As you read this, Judy and I will be in Southern India visiting, amongst others, the mission hospital in Mysore founded by my great-grandfather 100 years ago. At the end of our visit we are spending a few days in Sri Lanka and will be presenting the wall-hanging to the pre-school in Weerawila. Hopefully we will have a report and pictures for the February Newsletter. |
