The Choir
By June Lock

This is my favourite time of year: the clock time changes giving fewer daylight hours, frosts, log fires and the sounds of Christmas music. Summer holidays are just a memory.

Monday evenings are a scurry of activity in St John The Baptist Church. Enthusiastic members of the choir arrive expectantly ready to rehearse the songs for the traditional service of ‘Carols by Candlelight’, our rendering of the nine lessons and carols which is held on the evening of Sunday 17th December.

The choristers have a variety of abilities in part singing and the learning of music but with fun and persistence we mainly succeed. Throughout the year we present anthems appropriate to the church calendar. It is an onward progression of increasing our musical repertoire.

All are welcome to join us regardless of vocal abilities. Everybody is capable of singing in a choir. It is a musical friendship.
