By John Fortgang As many of you will by now know, the shop project was given a welcome boost by the granting of an award of £10,000 by The Lottery’s ‘Awards For All’ programme. All those who originally pledged money have been circulated and very many of you have already responded with your contributions, so the fund is increasing all the time. We calculate that we shall need at least £20,000, and almost certainly more, to get the shop up and running. Arrangements are already being made to source the cabin, which will house the shop, alongside the Parish Hall, thanks to the generous support of the Parish Hall Committee. The shop team is also working hard to obtain the fixtures and fittings, the stock, the security arrangements that will be necessary, and all the many other details that have to be attended to. We already have a number of willing volunteers to help in the shop (who will, if all goes to plan, actually be paid!), but if you wish to help in any way please contact me (837349) or any member of the shop team. We are particularly interested in appointing a manager. If you haven’t yet offered a financial contribution but wish to do so please let me know and I will give you the necessary form. No amount is too small – or too big. So with your help it will be a success! |
