The Lee W.I.

WI logo By Joyce Swain

The Lee WI met at the Parish Hall on 9th January at 2 pm. We dealt with business matters first and then had our talk. This was given by Mrs B Hulbert, who took us on a whistle-stop tour of the nature reserves of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust. She showed slides to illustrate this, ranging from birds, butterflies, flowers and trees to animals. Naturally, the babies (deer and hedgehogs) stole our hearts! The photography was of a very high standard, and afterwards we enjoyed a delicious tea.

The Lee WI met on 12th December; we heard of the success of the theatre outing to Windsor and various other county meetings. We were then entertained by Mr John Bates, from the north of our county, who told tales (sometimes illustrated by poems) of life in a small village near Milton Keynes, before the acres of concrete arrived! The highlight of the year was the Sunday School outing in the summer, notably to Wickstead Park. All in all, a most amusing account.
