The Lee Old Church Trust

By Trish Swain

old church Christmas celebrations in The Old Church have a timeless quality, after all it’s seen nearly 800 of them. Whilst the language of some of the readings and carols may have changed, the sentiments remain the same.

The Carols and Readings on 9th December were well attended and beautifully performed, many thanks to Rita Ruttle and Jilly Carleton-Smith for organizing the event. The 10th December saw the welcome return of ‘The Fayrfax Consort’. In a candlelit church, the swirling voices of the eight singers were truly sublime.

The capacity audience rounded off a memorable evening with mulled wine and mince pies. Wassail!

The programme for 2007 will start in April.
