From The Vicarage
By Revd David BurgessI would like to thank you all for the prayers, good wishes and support that Penny and I have received in the last couple of months – it’s been enormously encouraging, and very much appreciated.
I’m making steady progress. Initially, the whole of my right side was affected; now it’s just my right hand that needs to regain full strength and mobility. The main problem, though, is my speech. I can hold my own for brief conversations, but it deteriorates after a while; and my reading aloud is very hesitant, even from material I know well.
This means, I think, that it’ll be a while before I’m back at work. It feels a bit slow at times, but the progress is noticeable. I’m around and about, and happy to chat (after a fashion!), and I know that with Ivor and the churchwardens, the churches are in good hands. For that I am very grateful.
I send you all my best wishes for the New Year and look forward to being back with you as soon as possible.
