By Annie Smith The start of a new year and it’s a new start at Lee Common School! Mrs Alison Lawes has taken over the reins as Head Teacher and we have welcomed four new children into the Wrens class. Mrs Lawes wishes to thank everyone for the warm welcome she has received and she is looking forward to the chance of meeting all parents and the wider village community over the next few months at various school events, including our traditional ‘maypole dancing’ event, the Church Fête and school services at the Church amongst others. A huge thank you to everyone for their fantastic support and generosity at the Christmas Fair, which raised an amazing £3,261 towards school funds! Our next fundraising event is our annual quiz night at Ballinger Hall on 24th February. Tickets are £10 each and include a fish and chip supper. The LCSA has already contributed over £5,000 of its funds towards school expenditure since September, including smart new blinds for the classrooms, books, a curriculum laptop and software, school projects and smart new picnic tables for the playground. Mrs Lawes has a plea for help this month! The school mosaic, which once adorned the front wall of the playground, is in need of some TLC and sympathetic repair. If anyone is suitably gifted or knows of anyone else who may be able to help in restoring the mosaic to its former glory, would they please contact Mrs Jane Reynolds in the school office (837267). Thank you! Another reminder to please continue to visit the LCSA’s website – www.leecommonpta.org. Dates for your diary: 24th February Quiz Night at Ballinger Hall; 13th May Bluebell Walk. |
