Leeside Nursery
By Suzanne Beaney

Five new children started in January and all have settled really well. Our topic for this half-term is opposites: the children have been learning hot/cold, up/down, long/short and big/little. They have done a craft each week: awake/asleep (one teddy in bed asleep and one awake sitting up in bed), house with doors and windows that open and close, cardboard cut-out doll which could be dressed or undressed and painting and chalking pictures to represent wet and dry.

The older children have been learning to mix colours such as yellow and red to make orange, red and blue to make purple, etc.

Every week the children do cooking. This half term they have made chocolate biscuits, fruit scones, chocolate crispies, banana and chocolate chip cookies and bread rolls.

The children always enjoy experimenting with different textures, as you can see from this picture of two of them playing with gloop (cornflour and water). And of course playdough is always a favourite.
