Parish Hall: still a work in progress
village hall By Barnaby Usborne

Big improvements have been made to the Parish Hall over the last few years and we have a number of schemes in hand to make the facilities even better.

As there is hardly a weekend now when the hall is not used for a children’s party, we plan to fence off an area round the back of the tennis court where children can play in safety when the weather is good, with direct access from the back of the hall.

The tennis court has been spray- cleaned in time for the tennis season, and with luck and a bit of money it may get a new net.

The W.I. tree to the right of the hall is to be moved to a safer place where it is less likely to be hit by poorly parked vehicles or over-enthusiastic shoppers at the new shop. We also hope to hide the ugly-looking Biffa bin where it cannot be seen but is still handy for the pick-up lorry. (see picture!)

We believe it is time to raise charges slightly to ensure the hall’s income covers its running costs. The new rates, effective from 1st March, can be found on page 23. You will still find them very reasonable compared to other halls in the area.

Finally, at 8 pm on Tuesday 20th March we will be holding our AGM at which a free glass of wine will be offered to tempt you. Do come and have your say.
