The Lee W.I.
By Joyce SwainAt the W.I. meeting on 13th February Shelagh Illing, the president, and Thea Blow, the secretary, took us through the County Federation business; noting the Denman College Open Day in March. June Lock is arranging a visit to Savill Gardens in May. We then enjoyed a most interesting illustrated talk on ‘London Oddities’. These ranged from the statue of Dr Johnson’s cat, via devils overlooking a church, to a pets’ graveyard in Hyde Park and many more. The speaker, Sally Botwright, included the Liberty building in Great Marlborough Street, not knowing of the connection with The Lee! We concluded with our usual delicious tea |
