The cricket season is approaching!By Andy Devoy There is definitely a hint of spring in the air and we are looking forward to the new cricket season. Justin Lewis has been spotted at the club looking dolefully at the stodgy rain-soaked ground he is attempting to turn into a beautiful cricket pitch, which I have no doubt he will. There is a whiff of fresh paint around the clubhouse as our very own version of Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, Paul Woodhouse, has been gleefully redesigning the inside. I haven’t seen it yet but I can’t wait. Be still my beating heart. The first competitive match for the adults is a friendly at home on Sunday 22nd April and the League season for the Saturday 1st and 2nd teams gets underway on 5th May. We run two teams on a Saturday and one on a Sunday and our intention is to keep these teams going and to gradually introduce our Colts to the senior teams. To maintain three teams we need to increase our pool of adult players so no matter what your standard or how often you can play we would love to have you join us as a playing member. We always welcome new players to our friendly club. The Sunday team plays friendly matches against local village teams, it’s fun and competitive and usually a good place to blood yourself. If you are interested in rekindling your cricketing career then please contact me on 01494 837256 or via e-mail andydevoy@yahoo.co.uk The Colts players have been preparing for the summer cricket at the indoor nets at The Misbourne School. We have three Colts teams entered in the Bucks League with the first matches taking place the first week in May. Last year was a huge success for our Colts section and we are looking to build on that this summer. The first Colts Friday night is 4th May but be aware the bar is open on Friday 20th and 27th April. So please come and join us for a drink. I’m sure most of you will need to limber up in front of the bar before the official Friday drinking club gets underway on the 4th. |
