The shop is becoming a reality – the manager meets the workers
By John Fortgang

vhal entrance Geoff Swindells, the newly appointed shop manager, met a number of the volunteers who have agreed to work in the shop, at a recent informal meeting in the Parish Hall. The chairman, John Fortgang, after bringing the meeting up to date with the planning position (it is hoped the application for the renewal of the existing permission for the Portacabin will be dealt with very soon) introduced him and Geoff told us about his background in the retail trade and shared the benefit of his considerable experience.

In the meantime have you thought of volunteering to work in the shop? The opening hours will be 7 am to 5:30 pm Mondays to Fridays and 7 am to 1 pm Saturdays and Sundays. We can promise congenial work in pleasant surroundings amongst delightful company, meeting many interesting people and ensuring that you always know what’s going on – and making a valuable contribution to village life!

Don’t worry if you haven’t had any experience – most of our volunteers are in that position; training will be given. We are trying to ensure that as often as possible two people will be working together. If you are able to help and haven’t yet said so please contact me, John Fortgang, on 01494 837349, or email jfortgang@aol.com.

We are on the last lap before opening. Although we can’t yet give a definite date we do hope it will be during April. Be ready for more news shortly. (See Notice Board for latest situation.)
