Village
Shop's Grand OpeningBy John Fortgang We have a village shop again! After much hard work by a large number of people and a few near nervous breakdowns, a dull Portakabin was suddenly turned into a wondrous Aladdin’s cave on Sunday 22nd April when a large and enthusiastic crowd witnessed the ceremonial opening by Mary Stewart-Liberty, in the absence of Liz Stewart-Liberty who sadly was unable to attend because of a previous long-standing appointment. As I did on Sunday, I should like again to thank all those who had made it possible – the committee of Ray Challinor, Giles Knowles, Nick Rose, Richard Stewart-Liberty, Fiona Baxter, Barnaby Usborne, Max Haines and the manager Geoff Swindells.
And thanks to all of you who have given such generous financial support. I also want to thank all those who have helped in so many other ways by providing their time and expertise. The support too of the Parish Hall committee is acknowledged and appreciated, so too the generous donations by the Parish Council, the National Lottery Fund, Bucks County Council and Chiltern District Council.
But we do need
more volunteers to work in the shop if we are to keep to the planned opening hours. Now that you’ve seen what a fun place it
is to work in, please consider having a go. You’ll get full training.
The shop is a limited company in which we are all stakeholders. Buy your £10 share now which will make you a member and a part owner. For details on the shop's opening times and other information, visit SHOP @ The Lee Parish Hall |
