By June Lock (Member, Parochial Church Council) I have never ceased to wonder at the personal control of our forbears on sitting in a comfortable state through a long church service and a lengthy sermon. A ruling has been made that invalid toilet facilities have to be constructed as part of the Church buildings. The Lee P.C.C. has endeavoured to satisfy this requirement and has invited the church architect Peter Dalling of Dalling Associates to a meeting to be held in the Parish Hall on 2nd October at 8:15 pm to discuss his future plans for this project. Everybody is welcome to this open meeting with his or her suggestions as to the design of the Lord’s loos. Harvest Thanksgiving By Alison Weir The annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service at St John the Baptist Church, The Lee, will be held on Sunday 7th October at 10 am. Please do come and join us in the celebration, bringing your harvest gift. Following the service there will be a Bring and Share Harvest Lunch at 12 noon in the Parish Hall, to which you are warmly invited. The main course is provided and we ask that you please bring either a salad or a pudding. Soft drinks will be available but please supply your own wine. Do come and support both service and lunch. Tickets cost £4 for adults and £2 for children under 12 and are available from me on 837529. Balloon goes up for Church fund-raiser By June Lock After the summer recess the Third Thursday meeting will resume on Thursday 11th October 2007. Mrs Chris Leech has kindly offered to host a coffee morning at 10:45 a.m. in her home, Lee End, behind the barns adjacent to the Manor. A red balloon will denote her house. The price is £3.50 per person. Gifts and plants for the bring-and-buy stall will be welcome. The proceeds from this event will go to the funds of St John the Baptist Church in The Lee. |
