Speed restrictionsBy Barnaby Usborne Chairman, The Lee Parish Council The saga of local traffic management is inching forward. Many will remember the questionnaire inviting views on the new speed limits and signs. Most wanted the 30 mph sign into Chartridge moved closer to the school, and many asked for a 30 mph speed limit through Kings Ash. The parish was strongly represented at the County Council’s Working Group meeting on 30th July, which gave its support to our two main requests that will now go forward for public consultation and then to the County Council Cabinet Member. We hope that the changes will be agreed and implemented by the spring of 2008. The County Council had put the Quiet Lane proposals on hold while they awaited statutory guidance. They have now concluded that the scheme will not offer any significant benefit and the proposal has been abandoned. |
