By Viv Robins, Clerk to The Lee Parish Council Bucks County Council is in the process of revising the criteria for the gritting of roads for the coming winter. You may remember there was some unhappiness last year at the exclusion from the list of roads such as Oxford Street and the one through Swan Bottom and Red Lion Hill. Now the Parish Council has called on the County Council to re-instate the Swan Bottom Road and also to include Rocky Lane.
Now’s the time to dig inAutumn, as somebody once pointed out, being the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, it’s a very good time to consider renting one of the allotments in Oxford Street, Lee Common (pictured on the left in all their glory). There are one or two available and they are almost indecently cheap at £10 for a year’s rental, running from the end of September. Contact me or Cllr Karel Lewis (on 837344) for more details. Have your say on transport Are you minus a car and at the mercy of a sometimes erratic bus service, or maybe facing difficulties getting around because you are disabled? Bucks County Council has just launched a new initiative to try to identify those areas where access to vital services and activities such as jobs, shopping, healthcare services and schools are particularly difficult. It is holding a series of ‘community consultation events’ which will also explain “the need to re-structure bus services and spending on public transport in your area”. The events are being held on 2nd, 8th and 9th October at the Community Centre in Chiltern Avenue, Amersham, and Chesham Town Hall. Help preserve our footpaths The County Council has also produced a new strategy (as opposed to an initiative) for improving rights of way in Buckinghamshire and it wants feedback on this one as well. You can view the plan online at www.buckscc.gov.uk/rights_of_way or by calling 01296 387122, and there is a consultation event at Chesham Town Council on 16th October between 2 pm and 8 pm, where you can raise suggestions or concerns. |
