old church Stumps drawn on successful season
By Andy Devoy,
Captain, The Lee Cricket Club

The cricket season ended on a high with the Presentation Day Tournament which was a huge success. We had four teams made up of our juniors and adults competing in 10-over-a-side games. There were lots of big hits, wickets and run-outs to keep the crowd entertained. The Lee Lions were the eventual winners on what turned out to be a warm autumn day.

After the tournament we had the presentations for the Colts teams and the adults. Thank you to Tim Hart for donating a bat signed by Surrey and ex England player Mark Ramprakash. This was presented to the ‘Most Improved Young Player’, Christian Deste.

The most prestigious of the adult awards is ‘The Clubperson of the Year’ which goes to the person who people feel has contributed most to the club over the last 12 months. It is voted on by all the members and this year’s winner was Mark Channer. Mark is a loyal club member who has been coaching our juniors for a number of years. This year he was also the Manager of the U11A team that won the Bucks Knockout Cup, as well as being Vice Captain of the Saturday 1st team.

Also a Thank You to John and Margaret Glanfield who attended the Presentation Day and made a donation to the club for the Colts. This will be used to purchase a new trophy which will be the Glanfield Fair Play Trophy and will be awarded to the junior player who has shown the best sporting attitude in matches over the season.

Lastly, I’m glad to report that the club finances are healthy and we have an enthusiastic bunch of volunteers who have taken on the various important roles that help to keep the club running smoothly.
