From the Editor
Editor or team? By Viv Robins

Believe it or not (and I’m not sure I do) this is my 42nd Editor’s letter! I first put pen to paper, or its technological equivalent, back in February 2002. In those early days I ploughed something of a lonely furrow, with Barnaby Usborne standing in for me once a year while I went off on holiday; then in 2006 I teamed up very happily with John Fortgang as joint Editor, and now other able players such as Gilbert Nockles and Colin Sully have entered the frame.

All in all it seems to be a good time to be stepping down, with the Newsletter so well-established and its future in such safe hands. As I mentioned in the July edition I plan to spend more time with the dust mites in my London apartment. But my five years in the chair have been great fun and have brought me a much wider circle of friends in The Lee and a much more intimate knowledge of the goings on here, some of which have even made it into the Newsletter. So thanks to everyone for all their help and support.

I’m not saying this is my last-ever stint in the Editor’s chair, since I would be happy to come back and do the odd one if needed to cover for holidays/ sickness/ emergencies. However by and large I hope and expect things to go on very well without me. A propos, December’s editor is the redoubtable Gilbert Nockles, who would like material in a little early next month if at all possible, by the 9th November.

It only remains for me to say not so much Adieu as Au Revoir (and of course Clerk’s Corner will continue to offer that unmissable resumé of Parish Council doings…).
