The Lee W.I.By Joyce Swain The W.I. met at the Parish Hall on 13th November. It was the occasion of our Annual Meeting and after dealing with county matters, group meetings and various meetings attended, Miss Thea Blow gave us an account of our year’s activities. Our walks have been a little curtailed owing to bad weather, but one in the Chorleywood area was enjoyable. We also combined a visit to Cliveden with lunch and some walking! She reminded us of the many interesting speakers we have heard during the year and of the group meetings we have enjoyed. The Treasurer then told us that our finances are healthy, owing to a successful and enjoyable coffee morning, ploughman’s (or should it be men’s) lunch and of course, the stall at The Lee Flower Show. Mrs Illing, the President, then thanked all the people who have worked so hard to make a successful year, including those who organised our raffles and our sumptuous teas! We then elected our Committee, welcoming Mrs Julia Whittaker, taking over from Mrs Gill Holland. The new President will be Mrs June Lock, whilst Miss Thea Blow continues as our Secretary and Mrs June Pearce as our Treasurer. Mrs Bing Branfield thanked the Committee on behalf of all the members, and we look forward to our 89th year confidence and pleasure! A date for your diary: the next meeting will be on 11th December. ‘A Christmas Celebration’ – fun and carols. Visitors very welcome, as to all our meetings. |
