From the Editor
Editor or team? By Colin Sully

A belated Happy New Year from the Newsletter team. After the seasonal break we are raring to go into the seventh year of production – can you believe it? The ‘Thunderer’ rolls on!

The seasonal break also seems to have generated what may well be a record number of letters to the Editor (the archivists are still checking), a total of 13 letters – some from as far afield as the Orkneys and Australia, but most of course from readers closer to home. Keep ’em coming!

This month we have reports of the many and varied celebrations over the Christmas and New Year period – all, it seems, greatly enjoyed – but we also have a suggestion from one reader that The Lee might benefit from a little more temperance during the festive season!

Looking to the future, you can read about the plans of the new landlords at the Old Swan and for the annual village tidy-up. Hopefully, you can also help answer some questions raised by new arrivals in the village and by the local head teacher.

Such has been your commitment to writing since the last edition that we have once again had to hold over a number of items to next month.

The editorial baton doesn’t stay long in one place these days. Next month it will be in the hands of John Fortgang. Make sure that your contributions arrive promptly please; copy to him by 9th February.
