viv robins Newsletter says “thanks Viv”
By June Lock

One of the most enjoyable occasions in The Lee village calendar is the Newsletter Dinner – the time when the literary section of the community celebrate their efforts of the past year and thank the contributors, the distributors and the advertisers for keeping the Newsletter alive and well.

The Newsletter records the events in the life of the parish, the beauty of our surroundings and the ‘pro’s and ‘con’s of various local issues – not to forget the appearances of the Black Panther! Its monthly (Ed: almost) appearance is eagerly awaited.

The Newsletter began just over six years ago, partly as a successor to the Church magazine, and quickly established itself as a voice for all sections of the community. Viv Robins was the first editor and her flair and dedication ensured success. Ten editions are produced each year and 430 copies are delivered, free to every household in the parish (and a few beyond).

Viv has now stepped down as ‘Editor-in-Chief’ and this year’s dinner was an appropriate time to say thank you to her. She was presented with the ‘Newsletter Literary Award’ – an engraved silver salver – by John Fortgang who wished her well in her ‘retirement’. Well done Viv!

Of course, we expect to hear more from her in the coming months. Retirement from The Lee Newsletter is not that easy!
