By Andy Devoy After the very unsettled weather recently it seems strange that the first games of the new cricket season are just a few short weeks away. It’s going to be a busy time for our Head Groundsman, Justin Lewis, who will be praying for some good weather between now and then. We are having a Groundwork weekend on 5th and 6th April and as many people who can come and help the better. It’s a bit like ‘Groundforce’ without the cameras (and probably the activity) but there will be a beer or two on offer. Preparations are well under way as both the senior players and Colts have been practising at the indoor nets at The Misbourne School. The development of our younger players has been great to watch with a number of our boys representing the County and South Bucks District teams this summer. We have four Colts teams entered in the Bucks League with the first matches taking place in the first week in May. Last year was a great success with lots of children enjoying sport in a wonderful setting. The first Colts Friday night is 2nd May and we are looking forward to welcoming the new under 6’s group as well as any new players who have joined us this year. Our new Bar Manager Bryan Hart is busily placing orders – there are lots of thirsty parents in the area. The first competitive matches for the adults are on Saturday 19th April with the first home match on Sunday 20th April. We run two league teams on a Saturday and one friendly team on a Sunday and our intention is to keep these teams going and to gradually introduce our Colts to the senior teams. To maintain three teams we need to increase our pool of adult players so no matter what your standard or how often you can play we would love to have you join us as a playing member. We always welcome new players to our friendly club. The Sunday team play friendly matches against local village teams; it’s fun and competitive and usually a good place to blood you.
