From the Editor
Editor or team? By Gilbert Nockles

I am writing with bated breath to see if the old adage “in like a lion… out like a lamb” will come true this year; somehow I am not optimistic.

We have a bumper issue for you this month and apologies to those whose letters or articles have been held over for the next issue. April heralds the arrival of spring. The dawn chorus, the unpredictable weather and that mellow sound of leather on willow. On that note, last month’s editor encouraged further contributions to the ‘nets’ debate and we have an article looking at the issue from another perspective. I must say that, as with world affairs, sitting down and talking, preferably in the Cock & Rabbit sipping their best beverages, would go a long way to nipping these problems in the bud.

On the subject of noise “you ain’t heard nothing yet” if the proposals from the National Air Traffic Service (NATS) are implemented. This is an issue that should unite everyone and fully justifies a national media campaign. Please read the article and add your voice to the campaign.

If that doesn’t get you going the proposals for changes in local refuse collection and the introduction of wheelie bins ought to be sufficient to get the most seasoned ‘head in the sand merchant’ reaching for the Mr Angry button. We have reports on what CDC is planning and I commend them to you.

Enough said. We also have updates on the Church Fête, Flower Show, and the forthcoming Barn Dance and Table Top Fair. Finally Lee Common School is still looking for a supervisor for a few hours a week. Please see the school report inside for further information.

Next month’s Newsletter will be edited by Viv Robins. Please send your contributions to her at viv.robins@tinyworld.co.uk before the 10th April.
