quaretto misto Concert in The Old Church
By Lyn Jenkins

A concert by Quartetto Misto will be given in aid of Cancer Research UK, on Sunday 27th April at 7:00 pm.

The founder members of the quartet (formerly known as Trio Misto) are Cressida and Lyn Jenkins. They have played at the Old Church several times before and are looking forward to this farewell concert.

Cressida (soprano and violinist) is now living in London, working as a music therapist for a charity called ‘Kids Company’ and pursuing a career as a freelance classical soprano, vocalist and jazz violinist. She received her first voice-coaching from Glenys Groves in the village.

Lyn (violinist and Cressida’s father) is retiring this year and, with his wife, Caroline, moving to Devon. They have lived in the village for 20 years and will be very sad to leave such a special place.

The new members of the group are James Lindsay (cellist and composer) and Suzanne Mahon (pianist). James won the undergraduate prize for composition at York University and has had his works performed at The Purcell Room and Grosvenor Chapel. He is a music teacher in London. Suzanne studied piano in Dublin and is now a trainee music teacher at The Institute of Education.

The programme will consist of music by Corelli, Vivaldi, Haydn, Bach, Elgar, Massenet, Bartok, Lindsay, Fauré, Cole Porter and Gershwin.

Wine and nibbles will be served in the interval and tickets are available on the door at £8.00 (£6.00 concession).
