Well, life as an ex-Editor of the Newsletter seems strangely similar to the previous one as I sit in the accustomed chair and view the usual array of goodies for this month, including the latest on the Fête and the Flower Show….not to mention the Table Top Fair, for which I myself have turned out a very large number of knick-knacks, I mean priceless antiques. This month, we have a lament for the fast-disappearing bumble bee and more head-shaking over the state of British education – there’s just too much apparently! Again you’ll find quite a lot about those by-now-notorious flight path proposals. Read about how feelings ran high at the latest public meeting to discuss the issue, and also about the other ways in which you can register your protest. These are not mutually exclusive of course, so to pile on the pressure be sure to write your own individual letter as well as signing petitions and going to meetings. The stakes really couldn’t be higher for those of us who value our lovely countryside – not to mention an unbroken night’s sleep! I am glad to report that next month the editorial baton will return to its rightful holder in John Fortgang. Copy to him please by 10th May at jfortgang@aol.com or 837349. And please don’t forget to let us have any nice pictures of local events! |
