Lee Common School
school zoo trip By Annie Smith

The children thoroughly enjoyed their coach trip and educational visit to Whipsnade Zoo in mid-June. The weather was just perfect, sunny but with sufficient cloud cover!

Also, during June as part of their RE studies, a visit to both the new and the old churches was arranged. The stained glass windows were much admired and the children had to think very hard in naming the various parts of a traditional church.

The community police led an assembly, during which the children watched a DVD covering the different aspects of policing and were encouraged to ask questions about the life and work of a policeman! Most memorable was the invitation to sit in the police car and hear the siren!!

There is much activity to look forward to during July, the last month of this academic year, and this will be my final contribution to the Newsletter on behalf of the school, as unbelievably Bryony leaves along with all other year 2 children this month! How time flies!

Another assembly this month, led by the school nurse, will focus on healthy eating.

All pupils will enjoy a ‘creative week’ and of course the annual sports day, planned for Monday 7th July at 1:30 pm. The older children have a games festival planned and also a visit to their new schools before their final leavers’ assembly and leavers’ lunch on 21st July, the day before we break up for the long summer holiday.

Can I please offer our grateful thanks to you, the local community, for your support on behalf of the children and staff this year and we wish you all a peaceful summer break!

Please continue to visit and support the LCSA’s website www.leecommonpta.org. If you regularly order on line from M & S, Amazon or other leading retailers, the school will benefit if you order via www.buy.at/LCSA. Thank you for your support.
