3 peaks walkers Three Peaks walked in three days
By Ed Boakes

The first week in September saw Chris Childs, Tom Brockett, Vicky Boakes (a replacement for the last minute drop out of James Bell) and me walk up the three tallest mountains in Britain for the Thomas Ball Children’s Cancer Fund.

We climbed Ben Nevis on Tuesday 2nd September and apart from a few short very slight showers we made it to the top of this 1,344m high mountain in mist and then made our way back down the mountain with a total walking time of 5 hours 32 minutes. We arrived at the car park for Scafell Pike on the morning of Wednesday 3rd and as we arrived the heavens decided to open. We could not wait to see if it would relent due to time constraints so started our way up the 977m mountain getting very wet. The weather did not relent until we were about an hour from getting back to the car, total walking time was 3 hours 58 minutes.

Our final obstacle to tackle for this trip was Mount Snowdon in Wales, sitting at 1085m. The weather on this occasion looked to be fairly good. We left the car park and headed up the Pyg Track and 30 minutes from the summit the heavens opened again. The ironic thing was we got to the same place that the rain started and it decided to stop and we took a nice leisurely walk down the Miners Track, giving us a total walking time of 4 hours 23 minutes.

All in all the total walking time to complete all three mountains was 13 hours 53 minutes. As for the Thomas Ball Children’s Cancer Fund, the current running total for sponsorship is £1,186. This however doesn’t have to be our final total. We will still be taking retrospective sponsorship if anybody still wishes to make a donation.
Please contact me on 837161 or 07912 288712 if you wish to make a donation.

Finally I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far to give us the huge total we have so far collected.
