wi lunch The Lee W.I.
By Joyce Swain

The Lee W.I. has been very active since my last report. In July we heard a talk on ‘The Dog Trust’, which helps unwanted dogs to find a new (besotted) owner. Charlotte Peters made it very interesting, and we met one of the dogs, now owned by our member Linda Priest.

We had a successful stall at The Lee Flower Show, helped by several members. On 24th July, when miraculously the sun shone, we hosted the Beechwoods Group lunch, organised and prepared by member Leigh Porter in The Courtyard at Uphill. It was most enjoyable and highly successful.

On 18th August, Mrs Pat Foster hosted a super coffee morning at her home, which was very well attended. On 9th September we met in the Parish Hall to hear a talk by Mr Peter Smith on his years of National Service, much of it in Germany.

County matters, such as an illustrated talk on Darwin’s momentous journey to be held at Cheddington, and the Council Meeting to be addressed by Kate Adie were noted, as was the Group’s meeting at Coleshill in October – a talk on Maritime London. Come and join us for all this fun!
