To the Editor
We have lived in The Lee for 26 years and by the time you read this we will have moved into a new bungalow in Cuddington.

Although we know that we shall receive a warm welcome in Cuddington we shall miss The Lee very much. We know so many lovely people who have been part of our lives in many different ways and not having you all just down the road, or seeing you as we walk round the village, will be hard.
But we are not far away and expect (a) to come back frequently and (b) that you will all take it in turns to come and see us.

Thank you all for everything you have done for us.

mugs small Mike Senior’s book No Finer Courage mentions the mugs presented to children in The Lee by Lady Liberty in June 1911 to commemorate the coronation of George V and Queen Mary. I have one of these mugs, which was presented to my mother Mabel Marcham who lived at the Manor Lodge at that time.

Also in the picture are similar mugs presented earlier, on the occasion of the coronation of Edward and Alexandra (1902) and later to
celebrate peace after the end of the First World War (1919).

The mugs were designed by ‘Arthur Lasenby Liberty’ and signed by the then Mr and Mrs Liberty. These mugs were a tradition introduced by the Liberty family at that time.
