A young singer from The Lee, Alexei Kalveks, took a major step into the professional world of music when he shared a duet with Katherine Jenkins at the Albert Hall. Eighteen year old Alexei had been auditioned and chosen by Katherine Jenkins to sing with her at The Festival of Remembrance in front of The Queen and an audience of 5,000 plus a further six million joining in via radio and television.
They sang ‘For The Fallen’ most beautifully on this moving occasion and Alexei demonstrated tremendous poise and ability on his debut. He first started singing in the choir of St John the Baptist, The Lee at the age of seven and is currently a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. There can be few better ways of embarking on a musical career than by sharing the stage with Britain’s favourite (and most beautiful) singer!
A tantalising future surely awaits Alexei.
