Editor or team? From the Editor
By Gilbert Nockles

Once again the editorial team has been out and about seeking out news, features and gossip… particularly the gossip… to amuse, inform and I suspect puzzle our avid readership.

What a year it has been! The weather has been, well just typical English weather. Although we are still waiting for summer, there was no doubt winter had arrived when we awoke a few weeks ago to snow lying a few inches deep on the village green.

In this edition we carry a full report on the grand opening of the shop. It is astonishing in these challenging and uncertain economic times that a small community is able to set up, expand and sustain a new retail enterprise. The time and effort contributed by so many people are what make it possible.

It is that time of year when we again remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. John Glanfield has contributed a moving article on the Remembrance Service in the village. Although tinged with great sadness we were enormously proud of Alexei Kalveks singing at the service in the Albert Hall with Katherine Jenkins. Will she be invited to open the village fête next summer I wonder?

We have an update on the ongoing NATS saga and reports of the bonfire and roving supper.

As the year draws to a close the editorial team and the contingent of supporters, helpers, advertisers, distributors etc. wish you all the very best for the festive season and the hope that 2009 will be a happy and peaceful time for us all.
