Lee Common SchoolBy Arabella Norton The school is delighted to report that the results from the OFSTED inspection (which took place on 16th October) have now been officially made public and they have been judged to be very good indeed. The report can be read in full at www.ofsted.gov.uk or a printed version is displayed on the notice board just outside the school entrance. The inspectors praised the hard work of everyone, in particular the Head, saying “The head teacher, ably supported by a committed and enthusiastic staff team, has a clear view of the school’s strengths and has put in place effective strategies to address weaknesses when they are identified”. The governors were delighted with the report and want to thank the staff most warmly for all their efforts. The school is also pleased that Mrs Chinnery has decided not to fully retire but will continue to help Mrs Ash teach art on Thursday afternoons. Rehearsals have now begun in earnest for the Christmas play, which this year is ‘Christmas around the World’. To cope with the high demand for tickets there will be four performances, each starting at 9:30 am. The performance for senior citizens will be on Tuesday 9th December and will be followed by refreshments. Please apply to the school office for tickets (837267). Finally, the position of community governor still remains unfilled. Please do consider applying for this very demanding but worthwhile job and if you wish to have an informal chat to find out more about this please contact the school. |
