church Christmas at The Lee
By Judy Hart
And is it true
This most tremendous tale of all
Seen in a stained-glass window’s hue
A Baby in an ox’s stall?
The Maker of the stars and sea
Become a Child on earth for me?
John Betjeman
In The Lee they came in their numbers to celebrate this story and share in the joy it brings to us all. Carols were sung, mince pies were eaten, children dressed as angels, shepherds, kings and even a Roman soldier. The wise men brought their gifts of gold, Frankenstein (sic) and myrrh! So thanks go to all who worked so hard to make this all possible and the church a place where we could explore the mystery of the Christmas story.

The children are a very important part of our church community and participated fully in the Christmas celebrations. Some of them joined the choir for the carol service and we are encouraging them to do so more often in the future. Anyone eight or over is welcome to join.

Sunday School is well-attended and is open to any child of three or over. We meet on the second Sunday of the month at 10 am in The Lee Old Church.

Between now and Easter we have some special events coming up, starting with a special service on February 22nd at 11 am followed by a ‘bring and share’ lunch with pancakes. This is the Sunday before the start of Lent and so we thought we would have a feast before the fast! Lucy and Jerry (who do the pancakes at the Fête) have kindly said they will make them again for us. So put the date in your diary.

Could people please bring a contribution to the lunch of something that can be eaten with a fork only e.g. a salad of any variety, cold meat, sausage rolls, etc.

Mothering Sunday is on 22nd March and Easter is 12th April.

We are changing our monthly prayer meetings to coffee mornings. So please come and join us for a coffee at 11:00 am at the Methodist church on 5th February where David will be available for a quiet prayer if you would like.
