The Midsomer Murders Society
By Sabine Schreiner

We are an unofficial fan society, run completely by voluntary efforts, for fans of the successful TV series msm 1 Midsomer Murders, which stars John Nettles and Jason Hughes, and is now in its 12th series.

Our aim is to bring fans from around the globe together. We organise annual fan conventions and the next one is planned for 19th - 21st June 2009 (coinciding with The Lee Church Fête)! We hope to also organise further events throughout the year, depending on support and interest.

Our fan conventions raise money for good causes (all profits go to charity) whilst also being fun and informative for the attending fans. We had a trial msm 2 run, so to speak, in 2008 before the Society began and that weekend had 82  bookings over three days, with everybody saying how much they enjoyed meeting other fans and seeing parts of the fictional Midsomer County coming alive.

We even had a very special guest, Ms Caroline Graham, the creator of Midsomer County with its wacky and beloved inhabitants, joining us for several of our events during the weekend. We’re also proud to report that we made £1,000 for the Shakespeare Hospice in Stratford-upon-Avon last year.

The 2009 charity is the Royal Theatrical Fund, and we will have even more events to tempt guests with. There will be a Midsomer Choir concert, a Midsomer Quiz Evening (back by popular demand!), a luxurious three-course Murder Mystery Dinner at a Midsomer location, a visit to The Lee Church Fête (or should we say Badgers Drift?), location visits, and a Midsomer pub lunch to name but a few.

You don’t have to be a Society member to attend our events, but there will be discounts for Society members at many of them. You also don’t have to book the whole weekend, you can book most events separately.

We publish a half-yearly newsletter with news relevant to the Society. The membership fee of £10.00 for a single membership per year gives you the newsletter in email version and discounts at events. However, we also offer a family membership that covers up to four members at the same address, for a total of £15.00 a year. The membership fee helps us to organise our events and also to publish the newsletter and generally run the Society.

To join, simply send an email to info@midsomermurders.me.uk with your contact details, or send a SAE to Midsomer Murders Society, 3 Rectory Court, Lewknor, Oxfordshire, OX49 5TY. We’ll send you a membership application form to be completed.
