Editor or team? From the Editor
By Colin Sully

Did you miss The Lee Newsletter in January? Perhaps you were too busy shopping in the January ‘mega-sales’ to notice that there wasn’t one? Maybe you were pre-occupied with ‘the down-turn in economic activity’ or busy dealing with the effects of the ‘big freeze’?

Travelling back to The Lee from a break in France in early January, I don’t know what was worrying me more – the £ falling to reach parity with the €, or the temperature at Swan Bottom falling to -10ºC!

Anyway, returning refreshed and reinvigorated from our seasonal break in publication, the editorial team has resolved to make 2009 an even better year for the Newsletter, aiming once again to bring you all that is best in local news and features… to inform and, hopefully, to entertain you.

Later in the year we have two new editors turning their hands to the quill/keyboard. They will, I am sure, bring fresh ideas to the work we do, and as always will welcome your input. What would you like to see in your Newsletter in 2009? More of the same or something different? Do let us know.

We kick off 2009 with reports of many joyful village activities over the Christmas and New Year period, with plans for events later in the year and with letters (well, emails actually) from all across the globe. We also have what we hope you will find to be stimulating thoughts on the work of the Parish and County Councils, contributed by the Chairman of the Parish Council and our local County Councillor. Do let us know what you think of what they have to say.

The Parish Council is also specifically seeking your views on page 10 on the ‘post-box location issue’, so again do write in with your thoughts.

Talking of which – post-boxes and writing-in – please send your contributions to the March Newsletter to: theleenewsletter@googlemail.com or, if on paper, to Viv Robins at Crocketts, Crocketts Lane, by 12th February.
