New clubhouse should greet start of seasonBy Jon Swain, Lee Cricket Club Chairman In spring a young man’s thoughts turn to love… of cricket (and old men’s too!). All at the Lee C.C. are greatly anticipating the new season and with good reason. Through the dark and depressed days of winter, meetings have been taking place to ensure the efficient running of our club, whilst more tangible structures have been taking shape too – namely the building works for our clubhouse. Jon Goldby has been heroic; he and his team have worked through the most ghastly weather to try and ensure that the pavilion will be ready for the start of the season at the end of April. We will have two new changing rooms, showers, extended bar area and new kitchen, not to mention a leak (and glis glis)-free roof. We are grateful to our many friends and supporters for their generous help and to our neighbours for their forbearance. During the Autumn some of our young Colts attended County and District trials and I’m pleased to report that we have six Colts playing for various County teams and three playing for District. Winter nets at The Misbourne have been well-attended, when not cancelled as a result of snow!
