By Arabella Norton Thank you to all who came to support the LCSA Quiz night. We raised a staggering £1,063 due to everyone’s fantastic generosity. The Cock and Rabbit were responsible for producing the delicious food, so thank you very much to the Parolas and major thanks must also go to Will van Rest for producing a quiz that everyone could participate in and enjoy. Finally, thank you to the organizers, Bea Buisson and Maz Haynes and their team of helpers for pulling together a really fun evening. The next LCSA event is the Bluebell Walk which takes place at 11:00 am on Sunday 10th May. All are welcome. In the last Newsletter I mentioned a couple of events which at the time of writing had not yet taken place. However, now I can report that the year 2 pupils performed their cheerleading routine brilliantly at the Dr Challoner’s High School Dance Festival and were Highly Commended for their efforts. They also enjoyed watching other children perform from lots of different schools, but they did think that the Maypole dancing done by some of the schools wasn’t a patch on the complicated routines they learn with Mrs Dean! All the mothers who made it to church on Mothering Sunday greatly appreciated the song being sung to them by the children. The words were very true, and all the children and their mothers knew it!
During the last week of term the children spent the afternoons doing creative activities and they made finger puppets, rabbit ears, chicks, nests, baskets, Easter cards. They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves (as did the staff too!). During this final week, the Methodist Minister, the Revd Nigel Coke-Woods came in to take assembly and he explained to the children about Palm Sunday. Then, on the last morning of term, everyone went to church for the School Easter Service. Each class recited a poem that they had learnt and all the children sang some wonderful Easter songs. The Revd David Burgess took the service and adults and children alike were hooked by his story about George the monkey and the message of great joy. Thank you to everyone who has each in various ways contributed to a wonderful term. We hope you all had a very restful holiday and a Happy Easter. |
