By Pippa Hart With the removal of the shop portakabin at the end of last year, we have finally been able to proceed with a small Parish Hall project which had been put on the back burner a few years ago. You will have noticed that a new picket fence now encloses the immediate area around the two back doors of the Parish Hall. This allows all the youngest users of the hall to have a safe enclosed play area – a great improvement for the Leeside Nursery children and also a huge asset for parents wishing to hold parties at the hall. You can now have the smaller part of the hall laid up for the ‘birthday tea’ and the access into the garden area left open during the Party – plenty of room for a bouncy castle during summer months, and secure fencing and gates to ensure that young children cannot ‘escape’ into the car park! The area in front of the fencing has been tidied up with the long term hope that a bit of careful landscaping can turn it into an attractive seating area – perfect for enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and cake from the shop. But we are missing the seats! It has been suggested that there maybe someone, or indeed a group of friends, who might like to donate a wooden bench to grace this new area. A new picnic bench would also be a bonus. A local family have already offered to donate an ornamental bush to start our landscaping project and to complement the existing Women’s Institute Millennium flower bed. And finally, there are two 47 kg Calor Gas bottles that now lie redundant behind the hall. We are unable to get our deposit back on them. Anyone wishing to make a small contribution to the Parish Hall is welcome to remove them. They can be traded in for smaller more manageable bottles at any Calor Gas dealer. Please contact Pippa Hart if you are interested in helping with any of the above (837340). |
