Editor or team? From the Editor
By Barnaby Usborne

It is some years since I last held the editor’s pen and the technology has changed in the meantime. So this has been quite a challenge. There are so many more contributors now whose entries have to be copied, juggled, pasted and, horror of horrors, sometimes cut to fit the space available.

This month is a period for retrospection with tributes to five long-term local residents who have sadly died recently and a letter of enquiry about another possible former resident. David Burgess recalls the tribulations of New Testament figures and even Reina Free, while glorying in the present, looks back at the past.

Some new sports make their appearance for the first time in this edition, with the opportunity to shoot a hoop at the new basketball facility at the Parish Hall and Liz Stewart-Liberty finding time to take up ping-pong again.
The 20th June date for the Church Fête has challenged our normal editorial deadlines but, as a result of some clever teamwork, we have been able to include a full page spread of photos of this event.

Next month is a holiday for the Newsletter and our readers will have to find something else to read. The Bookworm has some suggestions.

Viv Robins, our original editor, has been enticed back again to edit the September edition. Contributions for this need to be in by 12th August and these can be sent to theleenewsletter@googlemail.com or in manuscript to Viv at Crocketts, Lee Common.
