By Barnaby Usborne After five years of providing tea and cakes at the Parish Hall for folks old and new, the organisers have decided to take a break. Over the five years the teas have raised over £750 for the Hall and visitors have enjoyed some competitive games of cards and dominoes, eaten some delicious cakes and gossiped. Perhaps it is because the gossip at the shop is more lively and up-to-date that the number of people coming for the tea and cakes has decreased and it seems to be the moment to call ‘time’. So the tea on Wednesday 8th July at Garden Cottage, Cherry Tree Lane, open as usual to all comers, will, as they say on TV, be the last in the series. Thanks are due to Karel and Tricia and their helpers for the lovely cakes and friendly atmosphere of the informal gathering. |
