school Lee Common School
By Arabella Norton

This month began with a wonderful Harvest Festival Service in the church which was led by the Revd David Burgess. Each class recited a poem and all the children led the singing to a packed church. It was a pleasure to see so many villagers supporting the children in their worship, in addition to their parents and younger siblings.

The church looked beautiful as it was filled with the Harvest Boxes that the children had decorated and packed with food ready for distribution around the parish.

Anne Kenyon came in the following day to organise sorting out the boxes and the school and church are very grateful to her and her team of helpers for this important logistical task. If any reader knows of anyone who would like to receive a Harvest Box in future please could you let the school or Anne Kenyon know so that a note of this can be made for next year.

The children have also been treated to a special visit from the Owl Sanctuary charity. They were taught in a practical, hands-on way all about owls and their habits and they also greatly enjoyed watching six owls fly simultaneously around the assembly hall. Each child then had their photo taken with an owl sitting on their shoulder.
As part of their science field study to investigate a local habitat, the Year 1 and 2 children went to the nearby allotments field on Oxford Street, where they looked for bugs and insects. They greatly enjoyed this expedition out of school, particularly as it was a glorious sunny autumn day.

The results from the elections for the two Parent Governor positions can now be announced and the school is delighted to welcome Kathryn Gurney and Guy Ellis as Governors. The school is also delighted that Victoria Sandy and Rachel Rolfe have volunteered to be Joint Chairs of the LCSA.

Finally, advance warning is also given that the School Christmas Fair will be on 5th December 2:00-5:00 pm. Please put the date in your diaries now and come along and support this wonderful occasion.
