Bonfire nightBy Tony Lea Many thanks are due to Tricia and Barnaby Usborne for allowing us to use their paddock for this year’s event. It was very kind of them and, unfortunately for them, it proved to be a very suitable venue. We have received many compliments for the firework display which has been described as the best so far. Our thanks are due to Steve Humphreys for kindly agreeing once again to stage the display. Our thanks also to all those who helped build the bonfire, in particular Trevor Pearce; to all those who helped cook and serve the hot dogs and those who served drinks. We received quite a few requests for mulled wine and hot soup so if anyone wants to volunteer to make and serve it next year we would be very grateful. Thanks again to Chris Nevill and his scouts for their work on the evening and helping to finish off the sausages. I think the prize in the sausage eating competition went to Will H!! A little fluffy chick (toy) and a striped children’s glove (knitted) were found in the field after bonfire night. They can be collected from Garden Cottage, Cherry Tree Lane. |
