newsletters From the Editor
By Gilbert Nockles

It seems that we have only just finished taking down the decorations, exhausted the recipes for old turkey and stared in horror at the magnitude of the credit card statement when here we are at it again!

We have enjoyed a lively year at the Newsletter and warmly thank all of those who have kept up the flow of letters and articles. It is not always easy deciding what to include, where to cut and who will be least or most upset if their contribution is held over for a month, but it is much easier to have an excess of material than a deficit that requires last minute efforts by the ghost writers to make up the pages.

During the year there have been a number of changes to the team and whilst some stalwarts have moved on to pastures new we have initiated two new editors and there will be five vying to write the front page next year.
There has been some lively discussion on the role of the Newsletter and whether it is the mouthpiece of the ‘Establishment’. While the debate rumbles on, all I can say is if it is not hot enough in the kitchen come on in and join us!

In this issue we have an article on the St Francis Hospital in Katete, shopping in our own Oxford Street, news from the frontline at Fromelles and much more including a wonderful article on the world of a debutante... who dares say we are the mouthpiece of the Establishment!

We look forward to an exciting new year with plenty of controversy, gossip and culture to get our teeth into. In the meantime we wish you all a happy and joyous Christmas.

The next edition will be in February and the editorial baton to start the New Year passes to Peter Archer. Please send your contributions by the 12th January to Peter at theleenewsletter@googlemail.com or hard copy to Red Lion House.
