Lee Common SchoolBy Arabella Norton Over the February half-term the children were learning their words for their ‘Sponsored Spell’. The money from this is still coming in and will be going towards replacing some of the old and tatty books from the well-used reading scheme. Well done to all the children who learnt many more spellings than normal. The 4th March was World Book Day and the children came to school dressed up as their favourite book characters. This half-term the main focus is on science and the children were treated to a visit from the Quantum Theatre who gave a science-based show entitled ‘Lights and Sounds of Tinsel town’. As part of National Science Week the children will be going on a school trip in March to study wildlife and the natural world at College Lake in Tring, Hertfordshire. Each child is allowed to bring a teddy to join in with the Teddy Bears’ Picnic that will be taking place in the course of that day, so at the moment there is a lot of discussion about which bear to bring! Maypole dancing practice has started in earnest and with it a reminder that all are very welcome to come and watch the Maypole Festival and visit the school on Friday 30th April at 10:00 am. |
